In Belgium, one in seven families is fuel poverty. Mean by that he is no longer able to meet its energy needs. At Chatelet , those in charge of social housing have decided to create a sort of witness who serve less flat to persuade people to rent it – it's actually not the purpose of a social housing to be 'chosen' – but more of learning or relearning for future tenants of social housing in the region to consume less.
The question underlying the project is all the more interesting that his response proves enticing. How to save a nice sum each year through simple gestures and habits altogether impressions of sense. The famous tantalizing answer comes from some experts who believe that the Walloon households consume up to 1,000 euros in too much water and energy consumption, but also in the recycling of food, for example.
With this in mind, the home chatelettain decided to develop an apartment that will allow anyone integrating social habitat of the town – and hopefully, in time, all while short inhabitants – effector of a learning path to determine the points of attention that will allow it in the future, to lower energy bills.chatelettain a décidé de développer un appartement qui permettra à toute personne intégrant les habitats sociaux de la commune – et on l’espère, à terme, tous les habitants tout court – d’effecteur un parcours d’apprentissage afin de déterminer les points d’attention qui lui permettront, dans le futur, de faire baisser ses factures énergétiques.
These evidences that we forget …
These gestures are often nonsense. Think about cutting an electrical appliance that is not used and not simply leave it in standby; stop tap water from when you wet your toothbrush and when you want to rinse after brushing their teeth. Evidences that we forget. With the apartment chatelettain home, it's a journey that you are invited. A course that meets all these little things and then interferes in the spirits, hopefully, not get out.
This apartment educational work on the principle of the example. Visitors will integrate an apartment entirely conventional with lounge, kitchen, guest rooms, a bathroom, every room is equipped with appliances and amenities that make it an apartment such as found everywhere today. Except that visitors will discover in real time what it consumes using said apartment and how much he could eat if he adopted the simple things that we talked about before.
A winning project
The need to reduce our consumption in social housing, but also elsewhere, not to all. Why Châtelet authorities presented their project to the King Baudouin Foundation, which annually presents awards to associations who wish to fight against precariousness, at large, but also energetically.
The project becomes reality in September and should, if successful, serve as a source of inspiration throughout Wallonia and, why not, throughout Belgium.
